The Association for Explosive Detection K-9s, International is dedicated to the continued professionalism of Explosive Detection dog handlers and their K-9 partners. Our goal is to insure that all members are trained properly to meet and/or exceed the certification goals of the Association. 

Our mission includes the progressive improvement of the professional level of performance of K-9 teams in the private sector of the K-9 industry. We provide certification to determine the proficiency and reliability of a canine teams in the detection of explosives.

A certified canine team must consist an Association member in good standing, working a department owned canine, with the responsibilities and duties of locating explosive devices.

Canine teams will have proficiency in the follow basic odors:

- Powders (black and smokeless)
- Commercial Dynamite
- Ammonium Nitrate
- C-4 or Flex-X 
- TNT or Military Dynamite 
- Primer Cord 
- Slurries or Water Gel 

The canine teams have skills to search the following environments:

- Building
- Baggage
- Vehicles
- Open Area
- Aircraft
- Watercraft
- Rail
